Book review: 'Becoming An Artist' by Scott Christian Sava

I really enjoyed reading the book, 'Becoming An Artist' by Scott Christian Sava.
As an artist, I really appreciated how honest and encouraging he is. One part that especially stayed with me was when he shared that even after decades of experience and thousands of practice pieces, he still faced rejection and still sometimes felt like he wasn’t good enough.
That hit home, because I think so many of us feel that way.
I loved his message to keep going:
- despite imposter syndrome
- despite the lack of natural talent
- despite no formal training
- despite not having the best art supplies
- despite not having nearly enough time to practice
He says, 'just keep making art'.
Because we make art because we are artists.
Because we have passion.
And that is enough.
I found it to be a very heartfelt and encouraging read.
I think a lot of artists would relate to this one. 🎨
